Store Stock has been a real success story in our transformation program. It’s made trading stock simpler for our farmers and delivered fast. Experieco’s ability to work under pressure and still produce a user‑friendly, scalable solution was key to making this happen.

Representative

Silver Fern Farms

Silver Fern Farms is a market-led food company, set out to modernise core systems across their operations — from supplier engagement to ERP and export supply chain. As part of this transformation, Experieco partnered with them to design and deliver the Store Stock solution: a mobile‑first platform enabling farmers to seamlessly trade livestock with each other.

The initiative aimed to simplify what had been a highly manual, paper‑driven process, improve data accuracy, and provide value‑added services that encouraged farmers to remain loyal to Silver Fern Farms.

Context
Before Store Stock, livestock transfers were:

  • Managed through paper notes, ad‑hoc emails, and phone calls

  • Dependent on sales reps’ personal processes, leading to inconsistency

  • Hard to track, especially when staff were unavailable

  • Slowed down by intermittent connectivity in rural areas

Key pain points

  • No centralised, standardised process.

  • Limited visibility into transactions.

  • High reliance on individual staff knowledge.

  • Risk of low adoption if the solution didn’t meet farmers’ needs.

The Experieco solution

Experieco and Silver Fern Farms designed Store Stock as a Progressive Web App (PWA) with both mobile and web interfaces, meeting the needs of on‑farm users and office‑based staff. Key design choices included:

  1. Offline Capability
Ensured functionality even in remote areas with poor connectivity

  2. User-Friendly Mobile Experience
Designed for non‑technical users with intuitive navigation and minimal data entry friction

  3. Rapid Delivery
Leveraged OutSystems low‑code platform to develop, iterate, and deliver in ~14 weeks

  4. Agile, Collaborative Process
Discovery and development ran in parallel to meet tight deadlines, with daily stand‑ups, Teams communication, and asynchronous collaboration between NZ and offshore teams

  5. System Integrations
Connected to Silver Fern Farms’ CRM, payment, and internal systems to streamline end‑to‑end processing
